How sex works
17 January 2012
Dr Qazi Rahman was interviewed for BBC 3's 'How Sex Works', discussing scientific research into the origins of human sexual orientation. Dr Rahman says: "There is a good way of shooting down theories implicating childhood experiences and upbringing, for example by looking at the development of sexual orientation in the children of gay parents, the results of which support biological mechanisms." He goes on state that early genetic research in the 1990s was controversial because it challenged the orthodoxy of those in the 'anti-gay camp' that sexual orientation can be changed.
