I am interested in the evolution of genomes. As part of my PhD project, I am studying the social chromosome of the fire ant Solenopsis invicta. In this species, two non-recombining variants of a chromosome determine how colonies are organised. I am trying to understand how loss of recombination has affected the evolution of this chromosome pair. Most of my work involves analysing next-generation sequences using a number of bioinformatics tools in a population genetics framework.
I did my undergraduate studies at Imperial College and my Masters in Research at UCL.
I am part of the organising committee of the London Evolutionary Research Network (LERN).
