Project title: Changes in energy fluxes during NPQ in LHCII and PSII-LHCII complexes

Summary: Plants are able to promptly dissipate excessive light energy through a process called non-photochemical quenching (NPQ). The molecular nature of the quencher species in the photosynthetic membrane is still under debate. The application of ultrafast spectroscopic techniques will lead to the determination of energy transfer and trapping rates inside the photosynthetic membrane, which will be then fit into a coarse-grained model to clarify the mechanism of quenching in plants.
