The zebrafish facility
About us
The zebrafish (Danio rerio) is an established vertebrate system used to explore vertebrate development and gene function. With the increase in use of Zebrafish since 2005 at QMUL our facility has been expanding steadily.

Our services
The zebrafish facility within the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at QMUL is dedicated to the maintenance of wildtype and stock lines. We provide eggs and adults for experiments. We can also provide advice on experimental design. Please refer to our service level agreement [PDF 60 KB].
If you would like to use our facility please contact Heather Callaway with an order form [DOC 27 KB] attached.

Equipment
The facility has a range of set ups from large tanks (approx. 40l), to smaller capacity (10l, 3l and 1.5l) housed in stand-alone units (Aquatic Habitats) and also a nursery. The facility is maintained by a full-time technician skilled in zebrafish husbandry.
Charging
There are a range of charges for SBCS staff [PDF 40 KB], academic users [PDF 20 KB] other than SBCS staff and commercial users [PDF 36 KB]. Please contact us with regards to cost for your own individual needs.
