The centre for life sciences

In 2003 the School established the Centre for Life Sciences, funded by an award from the Science Research Infrastructure Fund (SRIF). Research conducted at the Centre aims to improve knowledge of biological processes at the level of the molecule, the cell and the whole organism. The Centre provides valuable links between the School of Biological Sciences and the School of Medicine and Dentistry, maximising the potential for high-quality basic and applied research of biological systems at Queen Mary.

The Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art analytical equipment, including mass spectrometers, atomic absorption analyser, imaging devices, X-ray and NMR facilities and an EPR/ENDOR spectrometer. Incorporating expertise in environmental analysis, protein expression, enzymology, X-ray crystallography and NMR, paramagnetic resonance spectroscopies and DNA imaging, research conducted at this centre provides a valuable interface between the physical and life sciences.

The facilities in this Centre are available for use, subject to demand, by other research groups both within Queen Mary and from other institutions. You can browse by subject area using the links at the bottom of the page. Within each subject area, a description of each piece of equipment, together with the contact details of the person in charge, is provided.
