Surface characterisation

Available Services
Routine XPS (Mg Kα, Al Kα) surface analysis of solid samples including quantitative comparison with calibration materials. Options for in situ pretreatment of samples include:

• surface pre-cleaning in vacuum by ion bombardment sputtering
• treatment in a controlled gas environment at pressures up to 1 atmosphere and temperatures up to 1000 C (dependent upon the sample nature)

More detailed analysis using a wider range of surface analytical techniques (XPS, UPS, ISS, AES, LEED, TPD, RAIRS) is also possible but generally only on a longer term project basis.
