International students
Applications for our postgraduate degrees are welcomed from students from all over the world.
At Queen Mary there is a vibrant community of international students from all corners of the world, including China, Malaysia, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand, the Indian sub-continent and Europe, all of whom make a valuable and active contribution to academic and social life.
English language requirements
All international students are required to provide evidence of their ability in English language.
The minimum level required for entry to our postgraduate programmes is:
IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) - 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each category)
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)- 580 (paper-based), 230 (computer-based), 92 (internet-based)
WELT (Warwick English Language Test) – BBC/BCC
TEEP (Test of English for Educational Purposes) – 6.5
Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English – B
Cambridge ESOL Certificate of Proficiency in English – C

English language and study skills at QMUL
The College offers a range of pre-sessional and in-sessional courses for students who have not quite reached the required standard of English language ability, or for those wishing to improve their English language and study skills.
Accommodation
Queen Mary is the only college of the University of London to offer a fully integrated campus in central London, so you can live, study and socialise all in one place.
When you accept your place to study at Queen Mary, the Admissions Office will send you information on how to apply for Queen Mary accommodation.
There is no specific deadline for the return of accommodation applications. However, places are offered on a "first come first served" basis, so the earlier you apply the better your chances will be of securing a place.
