Sharks hunt their victims just like serial killers

27 July 2009

New research suggests great white sharks and serial killers such as the Yorkshire Ripper stalk their victims in a similar manner. The study was conducted using methods pioneered by criminologists and adapted geographic profiling techniques. They found the world's most predatory fish stay within a confined area, close to their home, similar to that of rapists and murderers.

Dr Steven Le Comber said: "Shark hunting patterns are extremely difficult to study and the work here will have important implications for our understanding of the ways in which predators hunt their prey."
